The college runs both UG and PG programmes.

Nine Core (Sanskrit, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Psychology, History, Geography, Sociology and Economics) are offered at the graduate level.

Eleven Elective subjects (Political Science and Statistics in addition to Nine Core subjects) are offered at the F.Y. B.A. and S. Y. B.A. levels with the student graduating in his Core subject in T.Y.B.A.

Core languages combine with Elective languages as First Elective and a Social Science subject as Second Elective.( English Core is not offered with Gujarati and vice versa).
Core Social Sciences are offered with Elective Social Sciences and a Language as Second Elective.

This is done to ensure that all language students do study a subject from the social science stream while the social science students are not completely dissociated from languages either, thus ensuring a healthy balance in the subjects offered and taken.

All eleven subjects are also offered as second subsidiary (SS) and Second elective (SE)

Since 2011 GU has introduced the Soft Skills and Foundation papers.

There are two options for the students in Foundation course i.e., Writing skills in Gujarati and Indian Epic Tradition in the first semester.

Environmental Science has been taken up in the second semester.

The students similarly have two options in Soft Skills i.e., Society & Technology and Stress Management in the first semester.

Personality Development is offered in the second semester.

Sanskrit is offered as a compulsory classical language at the F. Y. B A level and English is a compulsory subject for all the three under graduation years. Since 2009 the college provides training for SCOPE (Society for the Creation of Opportunities through Proficiency in English) at its DELL centre where examination and certification responsibilities are partnered by SCOPE. SCOPE is a unique initiative of the Gujarat government to improve the spoken English of the youth in this state.

The college does not offer any self-financed programmes. Baba saheb Ambedkar Open Univercity has a centre on the campus and the college acts as a facilitator.

Predominantly, the faculty practices the Lecture Method while teaching. In addition to class room interactions, most teachers use Audio Visual Aids, PPt presentations, Computer/internet aided learning. DELL acts as a facilitator for the use of our E-Library where we have stocked resource material useful for each subject.

As all departments have inter-net facilities, students are also encouraged to access the net for resource materials though strictly under teacher supervision so as to prevent misuse of the same.

Educational tours are also undertaken (visits to Science City, ISRO, Indroda Nature Park, Central University, Crematorium, Department. of Indology, Gandhi Ashram, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Gujarati Sahitya Parishad, Sanctuaries etc are some examples) to give them a first- hand learning experience.
